Pregnancy is a normal life event...
It is not the "plague" as believed in some modern institutions (hospitals). In fact, in The Netherlands - "Holland" - one of the countries with the lowest infant and maternal mortality rates and most midwifery care, a Dutch word for hospital translates to "sick-house". Many people realize that normal birth does not require the multitude of routine interventions, each of which has its own risks and problems, that are often thought of as caused by childbirth rather than associated with the excessive treatments.

This has inspired more women to make informed birth choices. And to choose foods and activities that promote the healthiest pregnancy possible.

Nutritious foods, balanced exercise and early prenatal
care with your Idaho midwife are part of
a healthy pregnancy...

During pregnancy, birth and postnatal weeks, the midwife monitors your well-being with supportive care, checking vital signs including your baby's heart beat, position and growth, lab work options and more.

Prenatal vists are usually monthly until 28th week, then every two weeks until 36th week and weekly after that including one or more home visits.

Nutritional and other recommendations may be offered as needed. Just as important is time for getting to know you and your preferences.

Ultrasound referrals may be offerred as needed or requested.

WHO says that 1,600 women die for every 100,000 births in Afghanistan, with excessive bleeding the primary cause of death. The agencies stressed the importance of increasing the number of skilled midwives, providing better nutrition...among other measures....
